Signal Loss through amp

Signal Loss through amp

Forum Members,

Anyone had issues with the new B501 3D player and a home theare amp?  I am running this player through an ONKYO TXSR508 7.1 Home Theatre 3D ready Receiver and losing audo and video signal.

This same setup works without issue using a DGTEC 3D player so confirmed its the Soniq player.  The Soniq player also stops at the loading screen on Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl without continuing.  Also observed it cannot handle my home videos on BD-R and BD-R DL discs.

Refer to Soniq 3D YouTube video for a standard bluray (not 3D) having issues through my home theatre setup... also observe alternative setup alternative 3d playerhere

Anyone able to offer suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... have already upgraded my HDMI cables without success.  Returned unit to JB HiFi and exchanged for another with exact same results.

Hi Neil,

We have escalated your case to our factory engineers. Once they have any reply we will post it on our website.

Hi Lambert,
Are we any further progressed on why this model fails to operate through the Onkyo 3D theatre amplifier?
thanks,
Neil

Re: Signal Loss through amp

Hi Neil,

Regarding to your enquiry about your B501 blu-ray player, we have done a few tests on it and found that it has no problem playing the Blu-ray disc "Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl" and it has no problem connecting to our Yamaha receiver amplifier RX-V371. It doesn't have the problem of pausing or skipping on video or audio. However our factory will continue to check on the Onkyo AMP. For BD-R and BD-R DL, please provide detail brand name and specification of the disc so that we can investigate further.

Re: Signal Loss through amp

Hi Lambert,

Firstly, the pirates disc is the least of my problems.  The major concern is the loss of audio and visual signal.

As stated, I am using an Onkyo TXSR508 home threatre 3D amplifier.  The current setup is Bluray Player (at present DGTEC and not the Soniq) to the amp via Australian made HDMI 1.4 cable and then from the amp to the Soniq L42D11A  3D television via another HDMI 1.4 cable.

As observed on the youtue video with Toy Story 3(2D movie) the signal is lost during playback.

Now, I have connected the unit directly to the televisoin and this DOES NOT OCCUR.  Playback is normal.  But this is not ideal as I have a 7.1 theatre setup and wish to use it.  I would prefer to use the Soniq bluray player as it also region change capability.  But as it doesn't work with my current setup I have used my cheaper DGTEC unit.

As for my personal media, we use Ritek Bluray Recordables and for the dual layer recordables its TDK and Verbatim.  I have noticed hit and miss with the recordable media.  However all my recordable media work without issues on the Soniq 302B and my DGTEC.  Only issue is with the new 501B model.

I can make another recording with different discs both 2D and 3D for youtube to highlight what I am seeing through my Onkyo amp if this helps your engineers assess the fault.

thanks.

Neil

Re: Signal Loss through amp

Hi Lambert,

Where are we at with this issue?  My unit is sitting in a box awaiting resolution.

As it was part of the television promotion deal I cannot return it to JB for refund.  So considering selling it if its a hardware issue with the laser pickup or decoder in the unit.  If firmware upgrade can fix issue I would prefer to hold onto a 3D player of course.

Re: Signal Loss through amp

Hi Neil,

Please try the following which can help us to determine the problem.

1. Change HDMI output resolution
2. Use other HDMI cable (without magnetic ring)

By the way, has ONKYO replied to your enquiry already? May be we can share information if you don't mind.

Re: Signal Loss through amp

Hi Lambert,

I have tried 2 sets (4 different) HDMI cables rated at 1.4 to ensure 3D data transfer... no change in what you seen in the video on youtube.
Onkyo haven't been notified as this setup works fine with the DGTEC BD307 bluray player and other peripherals connected (Wii / PC / DVD player).

If it would help, I can email Onkyo and ask for an input to the solution.

I shall try different screen resolutions and see what happens, and post back.

thanks,

Neil

Re: Signal Loss through amp

Hi Neil,

Our engineers specifically mentioned about HDMI cable without magnetic ring. Could you please check your HDMI cables again?

If your cables have magnetic ring please consider to use our SONIQ HDMI cable.

Re: Signal Loss through amp

Hi Lambert,

Here are images of the two cables I have used.  Both same type from bluray player to amp, then amp to television... I have not mixed the pairs.

Original pair are these type - http://users.tpg.com.au/nbibo/Soniq/23022012478%281%29.jpg

And the replacement type are heavy grade type - http://users.tpg.com.au/nbibo/Soniq/23922912477%281%29.jpg

I do not have the ferrite/magnetic ring on either cable.
